Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is now the fastest growing waste stream in the UK, with over 1.2 million tonnes being disposed of each year. Unfortunately, much of the UK’s WEEE ends up in landfill where it can contaminate the environment and have a harmful effect on local habitats, wildlife and human health.

Most electrical items that are thrown away can be re-used or recycled. The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations - introduced in 2007 - aims to increase the amount of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) being re-used and recycled in the UK and decrease the amount being sent to landfill.

As a producer and distributor of EEE, Kane International has an obligation to comply with these Regulations and provide information to its customers on the responsible disposal of WEEE.

Our Approach

Kane International is a member of an authorised Producer Compliance Scheme (Clarity Environmental Ltd). Through this scheme, Kane International has been registered with the UK Environment Agency as a producer and declares the amount of EEE it places on the UK market each year. Membership of the scheme also helps fund the processing and recycling of WEEE in the UK.

Producer Registration Number: WEE/EF0044SY

In compliance with the WEEE Regulations, all Kane International products - or packaging - are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. This symbol indicates that the product must not be disposed of with general household waste. The marked product - and all other WEEE - must be disposed of in a separate way.

Kane International customers can achieve this by:

Disposing of the product directly at an authorised collection point (e.g. a local recycling centre). Details of these can be obtained from your Local Authority or found at www.recycle-more.co.uk

  • Returning the used product to Kane International where it will be disassembled and recycled free of charge. (Delivery costs will be at the expense of the sender).

  • Returning the used product to Kane International when purchasing a new like-for-like product. Discounts to new products may apply as part of our Trade Up offer (FGAs Only).

  • Returning the used product to the original distributor when purchasing a new like-for-like product. (May not be available from all distributors)

For more information about where you can recycle used products, please contact your Local Authority, Kane International Ltd, or the distributor where you originally purchased the product.

Please Note: All batteries used in our products must be separated and recycled in accordance with current legislation and local guidelines. They must not be disposed of with general household waste. Most retailers who sell batteries will have battery collection bins in store. More information can be found on www.recycle-more.co.uk
