We were pleased to once again sponsor IGEM’s annual Gas Utilisation Conference, which continues to be one of the most important events for understanding the challenges facing Gas Safe registered engineers today and in the future.
The conference provides a great opportunity for us to meet both new and existing customers, and to highlight how we continue to support engineers in the field through our KANE CARE Lifetime Warranty across our range of flue gas analysers.
Our CEO, Jonathan Kane, had the privilege of chairing the opening session, which focused on the challenge of decarbonising the UK’s 25.4 million homes. The discussion looked closely at the role hybrid heating systems could play as part of the solution, particularly in properties that are harder to fully retrofit due to lower insulation levels.
There was also an honest and important discussion around the UK’s wider net zero pathway, and the likelihood that current progress means the 2050 target will be extremely challenging to meet. With over 30% of homes still expected to rely on gas for heating and hot water, it is clear that gas will continue to play a significant role in the energy mix for many years to come.
