Kane Richard Irvin Wireless Compliance

Richard Irvin is the first technical FM company in the UK to successfully go printer free!

Based in Stirling, Scotland, Richard Irvin is a leading technical facility management services provider that maintains, repairs, replaces and improves commercial and domestic property. They recently upgraded their Flue Gas Analysers to the new KANE458s Flue Gas Analyser – issuing over 100 new analysers to their engineers.

Previously they used over 90 KANE-IRP2 Infra Red Printers, but as an environmental and compliance consideration, decided to remove the need for their engineers to carry an extra piece of equipment. Therefore the KANE458s was the natural choice, as it comes with wireless capabilities as standard.

Their IT manager, Paul Rae, worked closely with our engineering department to develop an App, fully customised for their needs. Paul said: “This project was delivered on time, has exceeded both our internal and client expectations, and demonstrates our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and on-site operational efficiencies. In addition to these benefits, the removal of printers has removed a technical failure point in technical evidence process for our engineers.”

Scott Holliday, KANE’s Digital Marketing Manager said: “When Paul came to us with this query, we were delighted. We have spent years developing our own KANE Live and Printer App software, but never for one particular customer. It makes sense going printer free, for compliance reasons and even more so, environmentally.”

The new system has proved popular with Richard Irvin’s engineers with Martin McNab, their Mobile Services HVAC Engineer saying: "This is the first time I’ve used the import feature on my tablet for analyser readings and it is a delight, much faster and very easy to do.”
